PEOPLE WRITE ABOUT DAVID

INTRODUCTION
This section - PEOPLE WRITE ABOUT DAVID - is a curated compilation of the reviews, profiles, and articles written about David Gordon that help to contextualize his work. Alyce Dissette and Jan Schmidt chose materials for their significance and relevance to both David’s career and that of his contemporaries in what many refer to as the postmodern dance period, especially those artists who emerged from the influential Judson Dance Theater. From the myriad reviews and articles published throughout the decades, they tried to highlight authors who engaged with David Gordon over time, to include both good and bad press, and to demonstrate the range of national coverage David received from his tours across the United States. So - in this section PEOPLE WRITE ABOUT DAVID - you may find conflicting views, positive and negative reviews, and in-depth profiles that represent David Gordon and his work in the context of the times.

When the entire David Gordon archive is donated, processed, and catalogued, these selected materials and others will be available to the public at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Jerome Robbins Dance Division.
